A little rockfish action

1 Attachment(s)
Hit the rockfish waters at the buttcrack of dawn Sunday morning to give it a shot. Water was just about perfect. Saw probably 6-7 fish. Had 3 hookups with one steamrolling straight at the boat on me. I couldn't catch up with him and got slack in the line and he came off. The two I landed were a 14 pounder and a 26 pounder. The 26 was a good solid drag pulling fish. I snapped a quick selfie and released him back to his home. Was done and off the water by 8am.

Here's the 26 lber.

Great fish, congrats! Nothing like the sound of drag ripping off your reel.

Cumberland river above Old Hickory. Caught on 7 inch custom painted Redfin lures. They don't make the color I like anymore so I make my own and have modified it just a little. Either first lite or last lite is about the only time you can catch them on the shallow swimming lures. I also replace the factory hooks with VMC 4x 3/0 hooks. Much sharper than factory hooks and very durable.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...56f2c92985.jpg

Adrian, look at the shore line and the Hill in the far background, where is the water going to be the coldest... It's mid June Man ... You have two options ... Good Luck! .. <'TK><:)

Hey guys,

I do lots of Rockfishing at night time on the Caney, using redfins and other swimbaits. This weekend Im going to be camping below the Center hill dam. Im going to be doing some trout fishing during the day and striper hunting at night.

Is there any advise you guys can give for trying to catch a rockfish during my day time trips? Ive never attempted then during the daylight hours so just looking for a few tips like what depths do they like to hand in during the day? Ill be floating from the dam to most likely bettys.

I have about 300 7" redfins. About 30 in the red/white color and many, many other colors. Problem is if I don't get time to look for stripers I may never use them.
