Lake Radnor fishing report 6/8
 

Hey guys, I'm new here and this is my first report. :)

I never even knew this lake was back there until I saw it while looking up directions on my phone.

We fished Radnor at dawn. Tons of bass on top waters and chartreuse spinnerbaits ripped under the surface making a wake. It seemed like a fish on every cast. This place must not get a lot of pressure. I hope I'm not spot burning anyone's honey hole!

One guy started yelling at us but it was in Korean I think. We must have been in his spot.

Are you talking about the lake at Radnor Lake State Natural area because if you are it is closed to fishing.

Haha! It's the best fishing spot in Nashville if you don't get caught.

Yea and it is absolutely amazing that he didn't get caught because the rangers are normally all over the place and that would be an automatic ticket.

he's gotta be joking - I would hope

I talked to a ranger a couple months ago and he said they catch somebody every couple of months and it's a $350 the FIRST time- no exceptions.

I wouldn't shed a tear if that lake went dry. It's nothing more than a bunch of rich liberals pet lake. Makes me want to drive over there and take a leak in it.

So, No fishing but do you think I could back my Stratos in and then blow smoke all over the lake....... you know to annoy the Libs. For you guys that don't know, my boat smokes like a freight train, I have been trying to leave the largest carbon footprint possible. Truck gets 12MPG boat gets 2MPG and burns a quart of oil
( not real numbers for the boat but it sure does feel like it )

That statement just made me want to have a beer with you or at least go fishing with you.

Speaking of the 2 (beer and fishing/boating) what is the law on this? None aboard a powered vessel or just no alcohol for operator?

It is one of the reddest areas in middle Tennessee. Everyone in that area votes Republican. Seriously, Forrest Hills, Belle Meade, Brentwood, Franklin. People even open carry there.

Yeah, I hear Radnor park is a great location to carry an AK pistol hanging from your chest for your afternoon walk........

The overall county, yes, but the idea of this lake being totally closed to fishing has "whiny, liberal tree hugger" written all over it.

The whole vibe at Radnor Lake is unbelievably uptight. There are so many rules, regulations, prohibited activities etc. (and park rangers eager to enforce them), it's hard to relax. It's as if the Gestapo had a private lake.

We have friends who are always inviting us to hang out there. I usually decline because the list of permitted activities is actually quite small. With all the planning involved it becomes premeditated fun, which is no fun.

I understand that. But, it is a very small lake. You'd be able to walk across it on boats and never touch water! And, there's nothing wrong with conservation. I certainly don't want rampant pollution poisoning my honey holes and defeating the whole purpose of enjoying the outdoors. :cool: The thought of fishing there makes me drool. If I had the money, I'd pay the fine!

I do not support most tree huggers. However, Adough is 100% c orrect IMO.
The whole world is not a fishing hole and the fishermen will survive if they can't drop a line in every pool of water.

I can tolerate the tree huggers at Radnor much better than the polyester clad cyclists disrupting traffic.

Yea like no dogs allowed on hiking trails. What a bunch of crap. My wife and I wanted to go for a hike through the wooded trails with our golden/lab mix because she would love it but nope. Not allowed.

Speaking of little whiny liberal lakes, you can actually fish the main pond in Central Park in NYC (must use barbless hooks). I caught this largemouth many years ago, under the shadow of all those skyscrapers in midtown.

There's a smaller pond called, "Turtle Pond", on the other side of the park that's closed to fishing. I didn't know and once spent a whole afternoon catching smallmouth almost every cast. I was also brownbagging it and eating dirty water dogs. Ignorance is bliss.

that's what I thought but I'm new here. all the liberals and democrats i see are in east nashville and north nashville. i've never been to south side, my espanol is no good.

The area may be "red", but go to a Friends of Radnor Lake meeting and see what kind of people are there. They are the richest liberals you'll ever meet in the south.

In their defense, we fishermen are known to leave trash in places that we are allowed to fish.

It would be an awesome kayak/canoe only lake but the libs don't wish any fish suffer a sore lip.
