where can i buy the biggest kit of them i can get and wat is the best line to use with themi had the original kit i bought in pigen forge and somone stole them so im lookin to get a giant box of them i have a 8ft wally marshal rod and reel hope that will suffice
|
Bass Pro probably has the biggest kit I have found locally. Best place is to order from TM.
That old wall marshal rod will suffice, however you should look at the Trinity rod I have for sale.;) |
I got mine at Bass Pro, they have a trout kit, panfish kit and the trout slayer (craw shape), as well as most of the items individually. The kits come with a small tacklebox.
I can throw the panfish box in my pocket (not much bigger than an iphone) and go fishing, simple as it gets. |
They sell a nice boat box kit but the colors in it are not to my liking. Are you using it for trout fishing or panfishing? If you are trout fishing that kit is fine but there are a couple of great colors that you should probably add to the kit if you get it. Bison and Purple Redemption are great for panfish...Smallies. Bison is also a great color for trout.

Sambolie, Do you still have that rod for sale? If so please PM me the price. Thanks, Roy |
Is the SOS line HiViz or is it easy to see?
I've been using HiViz 2lb Stren tied to a flouro leader, just curious about that. I can see a lot of my bites before I feel them w the HiViz, especially when the wind is blowing. |

I am not the pro, however, I doubt a leader is needed 99.9% of the time. I have not done any better with one. (no comments form the above two members, please :D) Not being a smart a$$, but I get as much distance with a 6 ft rod as an 8. The reel used and the person casting has a lot to do with distance. What size head will you be using? You are going to enjoy fishing the TM. |

I use the CX premium. It casts further than the SOS and is thinner, but the SOS is a much tougher line

I will put my two cents in here since all I fish for is trout and all I know. I use a 9' rod with 2 lb test SOS line and most times I use two different floro leaders. When I started using the 9' rod with micro guides my casting distance improved over old type of guides and a 6' rod. I change out my line after 4 to 6 fishing trips. It also has to do with how many I catch. If I catch over 100 each trip I will change after 4th trip.
How I use floro is I will tie a 5' piece of 2 lb test T M floro and then tie around 3 to 4' piece of Seaguar 6X floro. Since I started doing this I numbers have increased according to my fishing diary. However, like I said earlier I only fish for trout and I am always looking for ways to improve my numbers and size.Being retired also gives me plenty of time to work at this. Fishing for larger trout is a different story. |
TC,
Have you tried just making an 8' Flouro leader with just the Seaguar or just the TM Flouro? I understand the long leader on trout streams for sure, I was just curious if there was a reason for using both kinds instead of just 1 longer leader. I haven't used magnets on Trout yet, I've been in ponds so far with much less water clarity than trout streams. I do think the Flouro leader gets me a few more bites even in the ponds sometimes( compared to tying straight to my HiViz mono :) ), but I'm only putting 2-3' of Flouro on with the dingy water. |

I will say that some of the streams I fish in NM and Co I use one piece of Seaguar of around 8-9'. |

You obviously believe it is worth the extra $$ too, good to know :) |
