What longer rod would you recommend something around 10' I do more tight lining crappie than anything. I am using my 7'10" cranking rod and my other 7' cranking rod right now because of the soft tip.

It is not work for those like Merv. He always takes a deckhand to do the work while he sits and gives orders.

Speaking of deck hands, SAMBOLIE, when are we going out again?

agelesssone 02-27-2014 12:00 PM

Juice,

I run six rods when I'm trolling.

Two out each side and two out the back.

I have two twelve footers in the front, then two ten footers turned back at about 45 degrees, then two "whatevers" straight back. I might use my bass rods or my spinning rods for the straight back rods.

I have a 150 HP outboard and can't get it to troll less that about 2.9 MPH which is faster than I like to troll, so I use my Terrova I-Pilot to troll with.

Since it is a 36 volt, three battery motor, it will troll all day and still have juice left for some trolling the next day.

Shoot I am used to that. Even in my own boat I am still my grandfathers deck hand.

OK, I got ya. I have a 150 on my boat and yeah it would be tough to troll with that. I have the Motorguide tour 110 pound 36volt, it's a monster like your motor. I love the fact the batteries last forever. I do like the I pilot, I saw it in action and it's pretty stinkin sweet.

Thanks for the invite Merv. I am getting the itch to go. Just need a little warmer weather for this old man.

I should probably wait for my tax refund check. Is your rate still $300 like the last time we went?

I have my old catfish rigs (ocean reels and cue stick rods) spooled with 4 lb line so I can cast those TM's farther than with 100 lb test nylon. Only took 6000 yds per reel.

That is such a waste. Like entering a Porsche in a soapbox derby.

I have the 251 Calcutta on my frog rod. It's smooth as butter, and the drag is solid as a rock.

See I thought about it that too, but the thing is so small it would not hold much line. Look at it this way, if you enter a Porsche in a soap box derby you are going to win every time :)

Bring the rods with you. I'm hearing the crappie are really boat shy so we could set lines back about 3000 ft back with your rigs.

And I'm running a SAMBOLIE ONLY special this year, $299.99 and you bring the beer.....and gas.....and food.

See ya when the lake warms up to at least 60 degrees!

Waste of its talent. Put that bad ass on something with some torque and enjoy.
