Thanks for all the comments guys. I have had the boat out several times. Mostly just playing around with the Ulterra and running the boat. I haven't had as much time to fish as I would like with buying new home....selling old one.....doctors apts and so on. I owned boats from 2001-2004 and fished out of them 5 days a week below Pickwick Dam. So what I'm going to say may sound odd. I have fished off the bank and out of kayaks so much the last few years it feels odd being in a boat. But I'm sure it will all come back to me.

alpha, i get what your saying, its easier to be very precise when stationary. Its a big challenge to fish ultralight if your moving, it doesn't allow enough time for the jig to get down. you will master it in no time. boat control is everything. keep us updated.

How did I miss this...... Nice rig. I like the front transducer mount. What do you think of the release mechanism on the I pilots?

Thanks....Well I have the Ulterra. It is all electric.....push a button and it deploys...push a button and it stows. Now all that is nice but if my batteries get too low...which will not happen under normal fishing for me......but if battery goes bad on water I have to take the cover off where the motor mounts to boat and engage a lever to get it stowed back. Not something I would look forward to doing. Hopefully it won't happen. As for the iPilot itself it is an amazing tool. Spot lock works great in a current or wind....works OK on flat calm water but the bow may...or may not stay pointed in the direction you first set it to. The boat however stays within a few feet of where you want it to...just the bow may not be pointing where you want. In current or wind though it stays where you put it. Also love the auto pilot....cruise control.

Thanks...I like the stick steer but being up front beats the crap out of you in a chop at speed. Going to put a Smooth Moves seat base on it. The boat handles great heading into a 10 MPH wind.....but the pounding will break you back. Smooth Moves seat bases aren't cheap but going to get it...unless someone knows of a cheaper seat base that will absorb the shock.

Randy, where did you get the transducer mount? Is it custom or can they be purchased commercially. I am having issues with my Terrova and cables as I'm sure you know.

Now let me give a review. The guy makes them out of his home shop...he is a sonar guru. It is well made and easy to deploy and stow....all aluminium with stainless mounting. I loved it except that it got in the way of me getting in and out of boat from the front. As you know my boat is small. If I had a bigger boat this would not be a problem. So I took it off to facilitate me entering and exiting the boat. Plus since I have a stick steer when it was stowed it was in way of my stick. What time it was on my boat I was in heaven when using the transducer on the front while fishing. Now I just have the one transducer on the back....much better to have it right underneath you.
