That has saved many a fishing trip for me when the bait is hard to come by.

It's amazing how well this set up works. If casting I like a scrounger head too.

Nice fish Adrian!

I am back in town and school starts next week for the kiddo so maybe I can join you on one of your solo trips here in the near future. Although with as little fishing as I have done recently, I am not sure if I remember how to tell a bite from a snag :(

We stopped by and picked up some creek chubs yesterday and headed to the channel. For those who asked, here is a screen capture of what we saw and what we caught.

Nice... I was using chubs I caught myself on jpp last night and couldn't catch anything. Granted these chubs were 4/5 inches long but still

Adrian 08-08-2015 02:41 PM

That's Odd. We had 3-5" ones and they were tearing them up. Catfish too.

gordonc615 08-08-2015 05:26 PM

See that's what I thought too... it was the first time I've ever used em because I thought they'd be too big..

Adrian 08-09-2015 12:42 AM

Wow. How were you hooking them? We went through the bottom of the mouth out then up and out of a nostril.

gordonc615 08-09-2015 11:39 AM

I did that and behind the dorsal fin trying to find which way gave the most action. You've given me hope on trying them again the creek I get them from has a couple of schools with at least 300 or so. It takes me about 5 mins to get a full cast net.do u buy them or catch them

Adrian 08-09-2015 02:41 PM

I tried the dorsal fin, but they kept snatching them off without swallowing. Went through the mouth and started having better luck. Go figure. We went to station camp creek and netted about 3 dozen in a 5 gallon bucket with a couple of frozen ice packs inside :) We didn't lose any in a 6 hour span.

Yeah its crazy how easy they keep.. thanks for the info I was really debating on using them again. Hopefully I'll have better practice this fall if the stripers run thru jpp again..we'll see lol
