Got a chance to slip out today and fish the Caney from 1130 am to 330 pm on high water. I had intentions on drift fishing throwing crank baits, but the fishing was pretty good in the pond so I decided just to stay there. White trout magnets with chartreuse jig heads seems to be the best combination for me up there lately caught 37 fish, most being Crappie.

I was there around that time fishing from the opposite bank, there was only one guy out in a boat, must have been you:D. Glad you had good luck because I didn't have any, the water was just flowing too much for my lures to reach a decent depth.

I probably seen you then. That side of the bank can be tuff on high water. Before I got a boat I have had some good days there with TMs and CMs right up from where the grey conduit goes into the water. There is a section where the bank cuts back and the water will actually eddy back towards the generators. Cast into it, countdown, and see what's biting!

Looks like you had a great time, congrats! Can someone please tell me how do I know if the sluice is going to be open on any given day, is this scheduled like the generators?, cant find this info on TVAs website, thanks in advance!

As far as a true forecasted day. I am not sure, but they will show when it is currently in operation by the website or the TVA app on a smartphone. In the pic below under the last paragraph it will typically say that it is constant operation or is in operation during generation only. It typically will be written in red or blue font. If you're curious how much water is coming through it if you look at the observed levels you can see how much it is putting out alone if they are not running any generators. This past late summer/fall they were constantly spilling 250 cfs through it.
