Spent the weekend in Hanson Kentucky visiting my wife's parents. My father in law has about 40 acres with a stream running through it. He built a dam 20+ years ago and now has a 4-5 acre pond/lake. About 10-12 years ago a 6 and 9 pound largemouth were caught here. Those days are long gone but the water is full of decent size bluegill and small bass. Fished all day Saturday and this afternoon with my father in law and my 5 year old when he wasn't running around or climbing on something. Caught fish on everything we threw at em but primarily used a black and chartreuse crappie magnet. I,m gonna guess I caught caught 75ish bluegill and 25ish bass with the largest being about 12_14 inches. No big boys but a ton of fun and good times with the family. Weather was awesome. Had to wear a sweatshirt all day Saturday.

While we fished one side of the pond I heard something in the adjacent woods. Looked up and a small doe was running right towards us. She stopped about 20 yards from us and looked back behind her. I was hoping a buck was gonna come up behind her but one didn't. We did see 3 more deer back in the woods and then the small doe took off towards them.

Good time! Felt very blessed to have my family and live in a free country where I can practice my faith freely and enjoy the great outdoors. It sure makes going back into corporate America tomorrow morning less of a burden. We're all fortunate and should count our blessings! All we hear about is bad news all the time but we still have much to be thankful for.

God bless ya'll and tight lines!

Welcome home. Glad you had such a great time with the family and relatives....and especially the pond/lake.

Hope your son enjoyed his time there.

We'll have to get him out this spring for some hybrid/striper action. Watch his eyes light up when he hangs a ten pound hybrid or rockie!
