lil help please

I'm a kayak fisherman. I'm looking for info on Center Hill Lake ....... Where to fish this time of year?, where to put in? and what to use? I've fished the Caney Fork all the time. Im'm jus wondering whats on the other side of the Great wall. Ive heard and seen that its a great smallie and spotted bass gills crappie and wallie lake too.

Hey Terry,

Do you fish with Chris much on Dale. The two lakes fish very similar. I have fished the areas around Floating Mill and Hurricane bridge with success on long sloping main lake points or up in Second Creek.

Hopefully a few more guys will chime in on this. I finished Centerhill quit a few times this summer and last year and had good luck with brown, black and blue football jigs with chunk trailers and shakey head worms. I tried to focus on it a bit more but every time I get to the intersection by big fan rock market my vehicle always takes a right and I end up on the river

Depends on what water temp is before I could give you any good into. If you are looking for Gills....and Center Hill has some good ones....they are probably still in deep water on the bluffs. I was there about 9 days ago looking for the fall shell cracker bite. It wasn't on then. The water temps were 75 degrees in the morning and went to 79 by 1:00 p.m. The Smallies had not moved up shallow yet. I will be going back up as soon as I know the water temps are down around 70 degrees. I saw some shad moving around but not a whole lot.

Top water awesome early before 8 then pull off your main lake points And crank. If I was going to the hill in the AM I would throw top water till 8 then fish the 45 degree banks with wood. Weapon is a live crawfish!!! Blade baits work on the suspended fish. I have caught good smallies on whirly b type lures working the bluffs also. The Hill is a tough lake to learn and once you learn it you will love it.

Alphahawk, I remember watching The Tennessee Outdoormen Show on PBS , when I was much younger, with Jimmy Holt and Glen Smith, They had some gentlemen on there that fished the buffs on Center Hill for gills. They caught some of the biggest gills I have ever seen. On crickets and heavy weights. I remember them saying " you got to get the cricket below the small gills to caught the monsters. Kinda dated myself with that memory

Alphahawk, I remember watching The Tennessee Outdoormen Show on PBS , when I was much younger, with Jimmy Holt and Glen Smith, They had some gentlemen on there that fished the buffs on Center Hill for gills. I used to watch that show also until leaving TN in 1973 to spend almost 31 years away from here.....25 of those years outside the USA. I even had video tapes of those shows I would watch while working in Saudi...great show. Those fish still go to the bluffs and I guess always will. I just saw where water temps are low 70's so the Gills might be back shallow and the shell cracker bite might be on along with the Smallies coming up shallow. Tomorrow is going to be great fishing weather but I have prior commitment or I would be up there. Still might go Saturday though. Don't like it when I can't fish....LOL.

I grew up watching that show as well. Doug Markham looked like a kid when he first appeared on there.
