Haha. Yep she got a couple of big'uns. Actually she did mention that she liked reeling them in from 50' down. I had to remind her that she was using a tiny hook and not to straighten it out by pulling too hard...

Big fish but tiny hooks? Whats the thought behind that? Keep the shad livelier so they arent fighting a heavy hook?

Nice fish, any idea what they weighed?

The tiny hooks are like Magic. Derive from it what you will, but the tiny, and I mean tiny, hooks get at least 3 to 1 hits over the bigger ones. My big 80lb braid rig with the big hook only got thumps and No Fish. I guess you could attribute it to livelier shad or maybe fish getting spooked when they feel the bigger hooks hitting their lips. Besides that, the tiny ones are almost invisible.

I had just worked out right before this, and I can tell you the first one was in the 25lb range. The photo didn't do it justice.

I do a lot of 12 ounce curls. I can tell a difference when all I have in the fridge is tall boys.

Pulling catfish up from that depth do you have to fizz them?

Big Cats like that are as Strong as a Garlic Milkshake. Besides, they didn't come to the surface quickly by any means. We had them on the deck for quite a while waiting on Boaters to go by, then we took Pictures. When I put him over the side of the boat, he took off like a Rocket. )
& Yes, It's Old Hickory.

I'm really bad at hook sizes, but I can say the Bigger hooks are a little bigger than a Thumbnail, and the Tiny hooks are as small as a Pinky Nail. Does that make sense?
