hey guys, maybe some of you have done this or thought about doing this. But my jon boat, like most others, has that round tube along the entire rim of the boat at the top of the sides. That rail takes a beating, especially locking at a dams. im wanting to take some kind of material and slide it on/over that rail to protect it from further scrapes and dents and chips. I havent come accross any garden hose big enough to do it and im not sure if i slit a piece of plastic conduit, that i could open it enough to slide it on.
have any of you guys covered that rail with any thing like that? Lowes has that thick wall clear tubing for pool filters or something but that stuff is outrageous per foot, like several hundred bucks to do a 14' boat. Ive looked at the pre-sit foam pipe wrap but it wont take much abuse before it starts to shred so i dont think that will be a money wise route to take.
i would even be open to simply siliconing/gluing some kind of heavy rubber strip to outside of the rim if i could get it to stay.
