Has anyone had any luck this month with smallmouth downstream of Old Hickory dam. Been fishing last several months on Old Hickory and lately it seems tough. Thought I might try the river for a change!

Thats usually a good starting point. ive never caught any smallies there, but ive done good on spots and LM.
as long as there is some flow in the river, the fishing should be good. there are some really, really nice largemouth in the river too!

That is very true. We catch them on and around wood in the slack water areas quite a bit.

Gotta have some flow though to really see the bite pick up.

I've been catching them pretty good down there over the last month. With 1 generator the bigger fish are hanging out off the bank on the edge of deeper water. But with 2 generators they are moving up tight to the bank. Sometimes they will hit as soon as your lure hits the water!

Just out of curiosity, is there any place to put in closer to the dam than the Peeler Park ramp? I've only fished this part of the river once and would like to do it again sometime soon...mainly due to the lack of wake boats, jet skis, etc. Although a barge passing by that's close enough to chunk a crank bait and hit the tug boat captain is a little unsettling, I'll take it over the alternative!

There is a ramp at the dam on the Old Hickory side. There is a new ramp down where the Stones river meets the Cumberland. Heartland ramp I believe its called.

You can use the old ferry ramp in West Nashville. I think it was called Cleece's Ferry. It is right down from Rock Harbor Marina.
