I went last year, Had the 11th pick. Never even got to hunt it. We had what we call the lilly pad hole. All my friends got to hunt but with the new kid and all that I never set foot in the blind. I will not be going this weekend, I am in Illinois.

If you ever hunted the timber in Arkansas, you'd throw rocks at the duck blind drawing. Literally, you will see more ducks in a single day than you will see all year in Tennessee.

Just like the Dakotas, but I love duck hunting and I take what I can get. Just because it isn't as good as Arkansas doesn't mean I won't go. I can't afford Arkansas. It's all about the love for the hunt, not seeing millions of birds and killing a limit. I had some awesome hunts last year where we only liked a few birds. The laughter, story telling, friendships. It's all about the experience.

Just like fishing, some lakes aren't as good as others, but I will still fish.

I usually go to Reelfoot a time or two during the season.. I'm just hoping to have a local spot for all the reasons Mike talked about.

I was gonna say if you had ever heard of Obion or Lake county TN. And from what I heard and seen last year mid tn had some great days. Instead of buying an out of state liscense, I'll just kill all the ducks I want in TN (west and middle).

Yeah, and Gibson and Humphreys. The list goes on forever. I've hunted Reelfoot, Forked Deer, and Ky Lake. I've been down the road many times hunting Cheatham and Old Hickory as well. All that "signing on" BS has ruined many a friendship.

It's not about limits either. And as far as money, it ain't that expensive. It is an hour and a half out of Memphis. If you can't afford to split a 35.00 motel room, you probably don't need to be duck hunting anyway.

Alpha trout fishes the White River for the same reason I hunt the White River. That's where the game and fish are. I don't care where you go, I'm just saying that if you ever hunted Arkansas, you wouldn't fool with that cluster f*** on the first Saturday in August. That's all.

No, it's nothing like the Dakotas. Arkansas is a half day's drive. How far are the Dakotas?

I am talking duck numbers. Not distance, did I say distance?

And I want to hunt every weekend. No, I cannot afford Arkansas every weekend. Maybe one weekend, and if I did that, you can sure bet I would still be hunting Old Hickory every other weekend.

A timber hunt in Arkansas if you don't know public spots is minimum $250 a day guide charge, plus hotel, plus out of state license, you have minimum $600 into the weekend.

You say Alpha goes to the white River to catch trout. But do you see him go every weekend? No, he fishes local mostly because he loves it. Which is why I will hunt locally, because I love it and it is not humanly possible to hunt Arkansas every weekend. If you can....I am happy for you.

No guides, just hunting Public WMA. Tens of thousands of acres of it.

Two hunters, no blind. Just wading the timber.

More guests joined the party the next morning.

Having one of these saves a lot of steps:

I love to hunt ducks, but not enough to drive 10 hours a weekend to do so.

There has been a lot more ducks flying through mid Tn the last few years for whatever reason and I plan to take as many of em as I can.

Arkansas looks like a lot of fun, though.

Great pile of ducks there Pookie, I used to go to west TN up until just a couple of years ago, there are several public spots in which you can pile them up just like that and is only 4 hrs drive from home without having to pay an out of state license, if you hit it right it can be epic, just very hard to hunt since you have yo be there early to claim the spot, maybe some of us can get togheter for a couple of hunts, have gun will travel! ;)
