Sometimes God decides to give you a bit of luck and yesterday was that day for me. I headed out to Old Hickory in the rain for the TKA event and after about 45 minutes caught the biggest bass I've ever caught in a tournament. A very fat 20.75" on a crankbait.

She actually almost jumped off the hawg trough twice while trying to get a picture of her. If she had succeeded, I would most likely have just packed up and went back to sleep because you can't mentally recover from something like that.

I proceeded to lose two nice fish, then finally landed two more. A 16.75" and a 13.5", both also on a crankbait, and that was good enough to give me 51 total inches and take first place :D

I was also awarded the prize money for Big Fish so I went home so excited thinking I had won it all but then Geoff contacted me and told me he made a mistake and that someone caught a 21.25" fish, his only fish of the day. He felt so bad about the mistake that he contacted the angler, met him, and paid him out of pocket to make things right. Of course, I wouldn't think for a second to keep what wasn't mine so I'll be sending Geoff a check and all is good now. Jeremy caught some quality fish as well and took 3rd place. Glad to see you get to the podium, man. You usually have other responsibilities with the KBFTN events and don't get the chance to fish for much time during them. We all do appreciate your work!

That big fish mistake was a bit of a buzzkill haha but I still got first place and am very happy to finally win one of these. Pics are attached and I can't wait to get out with this great group again and do what we love.

Dang that's a fat fish! Congrats on the win. Did you find those fish on the sonar or just fishing good looking water?

24 showed up, not bad given the rainy weather. Usually he has 30+ at this events.

Thanks and yea she was eating good! I was actually on the way towards a bunch of grass I spotted and wanted to fish the edges of it with frogs and stick worms but along the way I noticed tons of brushpiles and fish in about 10 feet of water and I figured there was no point in passing all of that up and not throwing a crankbait. Good decision!

I always love seeing fish/structure on sonar then catching fish off of it. Once again congrats on the win.

Yea but what sucks is seeing fish and NOT being able to catch them! Then you cant use the excuse that there just weren't any fish there. I've dropped many plastic worms over marked structure/fish and not caught fish...its frustrating.

Good job Jimmy, you put in a lot of hard work, and you deserve it. That's a commendable thing of you returning the money. It's easy to miss something while running a tournament.

If you had been there it would have been like the tournament we had on Old Hickory Feb 22nd where we had 44 anglers and only 4 bass were caught!

Thanks Jeremy, funny thing is the tactic I've spent so much time lately practicing (wacky rigged stick worm) produced zero fish Saturday. Only crankbaits worked which I've always fished with, yet the plastic worms were working quite well for you! I just got a bit of luck on my side, I could easily have only caught 12" fish all morning.

I forgot to mention here that I used some of the prize cash to take my wife out to dinner Saturday night for putting up with my fishing obsession and how much I've been going lately. She's a keeper!

Yeah, that is weird. I fished spinnerbaits, ribbon tail texas rigged worms and lizards, buzzbaits, frogs, devils horse, cranks, and grubs. The only thing that produced was the stick worm on a shaky head. Also all my fish were caught in an area less than 1000 sq feet.
