Started bass fishing but wasn't having much luck. Switched to trolling crankbaits for crappie from 630-730pm. Caught 6 keepers in EXACTLY 22 fow. The wind was brutal so I had to run the outboard the entire time.

Your staying on them....something to be said for that in itself!

How deep do you think your crankbaits were running? I pulled cranks in Bledsow (200 Bandits) in about the same water and only caught a couple drum. I believe I'm going to have to move down lake to get into the crappie. Just frustrating me up here.

I was trolling 5 with my line out 60-110 feet. Not really sure how deep they were running. Probably 10-14 feet deep. The furthest line out had a shallower driver.
What I did was run one out 80' and kept driving shallower until it hung up. That will give you an idea of the depth but it will cost you a crankbait.

When i was between sonar units that was how i found brush piles. I went cheaper though...just a big treble and a sinker. Lol!
Time consuming but pretty effective.
