Got up this a.m. and had no electricity. After about 2 hours the power came back on and I looked at the radar and saw that there might be a two hour window for fishing pop open so headed to Blue Cat to fish from the bank a little bit. There were fish busting the surface right at the bank in quite a few places. I first just thought these were small bass feeding on what looks like bass fry. While you could see some were bass it looked like there were some shell cracker doing it along with bluegill. I have seen bluegill do this but never seen a shell cracker do it. I tied on a Millie colored Trout Magnet and started casting parallel to the bank. In the two hours I fished I caught 5 shell crackers and 15 large mouth.....along with several small bluegill. The shell cracker were 10-11 inches and the bass all about 10-11 inches. I knew it was time to go when lightning popped right out in front of me. On the way out there were caution signs about water in the roadway. While there was no water on the highway you could see that there had been several places that the water had been pretty high in the road. Hoping to get some better weather the next 10 days or so as I am going to hit all the beds I have marked on my si up at Center Hill and Laurel Hill to see if the Gills will return to those beds on or around the full moon on the 12th.....as many fish biologist say. I spent 5 hours paddling around Center Hill Tuesday.....I didn't catch hardly any fish....water temp was 86 degrees.....but I have a ton of deep water Gill beds marked. So I hope the theory is correct that the Gills will return to their beds all through summer on the full moon. I intend to find out. Of course with all this rain if they open the gates at Pickwick I will have to hit it below the dam a day or two with the River Rockers to try for large mouth.

Nice report, will be interesting to see if the gills return to the marked beds. Let us know if it is true. Nice fish too.

Thanks for the report, I'm banking on the full moon next week myself.
