Put the kayak in for the first time this year at Laurel Hill. I was really excited to use the side imaging in this great bluegill lake. I found and marked 5 beds then started fishing. Only caught a couple of fish off of those beds...just weren't any fish on them. So I cranked my range out to 200 feet and started paddling. Wasn't long before I hit a gold mine. I found two beds relatively close to one another that were loaded with fish. Brought my range down to get a better look at the beds and marked them for my GPS. I caught 70 Gills today all between 8 inches to a little over 9 inches. These fish had really large girth and some were copper nose. Today was a blast fighting these fish on 2# test. All fish caught using a Bison colored Trout Magnet with a 1/32 ounce jig head with #8 hook. Water temp was around 80 degrees on surface. Would have stayed longer but heard a little rumble of thunder in the back ground so beat feet for the vehicle. The BG Prowler II is not the fastest kayak out there. They call it The Battleship for good reason....LOL. To say I am very pleased with the Humminbird 899 would be an understatement. Really looking forward to the next full moon. Life is good!
