Just got a new Humminbird 859, wondering from you guys that have used them for a while now, which is the most recommended card for the money? I've used the Navionics hot maps card before, so naturally that's where I was headed, but is there anything else better? Not that I didn't like Navionics, Just wondered.
I fish mainy Old hickory, Centerhill, and Cordell Hull.
Thanks.

Well I am a novice here ... I bought the Nav. for my 998 for the simple reason Merv uses them ... and I like what I saw ... So far I am happy with Nav. .... <'TK>< :)

Navionics Hot Maps Premium is probably the recommended card for that unit. They are on sale at Cabelas plus if you buy one register with Navionics and download the Navionics World and Navionics PC App and you get free map upgrades for a year. Great deal. You'll need the East card for Tennessee lakes.

I use the navionics map and I like it. Also have the app on my phone. I will use it in the boat or just look for spots while I'm at wor.......home.
I would perfer to use the LakeMaster card because I use humminbirds and the Terrova linked together, but LM didn't have OH or JPP. Tennessee is also include in the SE lLakeMaster Card. With Navioncs it is included in the NE card. TN is the only state I fish on the Navioncs card.

Hahaha.
How well does the networking between your head unit and trolling motor work? I'd like to set mine up but don't know if it is worth it until the LakeMaster card includes the lakes I fish.

Works great. When I'm crappie fishing I sit at the console and steer the trolling motor with the ipilot link remote and mark fish while someone else watches the rods.
When you make an adjustment you can see your new heading on the contour map. Or make a new point and tell the TM to go there. Or spot lock.
I don't know how I ever caught fish without it.

Here is link to what cards you can use in that until. You only have two choices...Lakemaster...and Navionics Gold/Hotmap. The 859 does not support Platimnum or Platinum+. I have not bought a card yet and am seriously thinking of getting AutoChart and make my own maps since I fish a lot of smaller lakes.

I have the navionics hot maps premium. I do find myself flipping back and forth between that and the lowrance map both have some nice features.

If you buy gold, can fish new mexico to fla to maine one chip, hotmaps does not cover but say 30 miles into tn,leaving the rest of say ky lake needing a second chip, then of course a third for the river section. Then one might make a trip and need more.Other than the Tn river section chip which I own they seldom cover any large lake by themselves.
Gold however has usa and canada on it,or usa and bermuda etc pick the one more applicable.Platnum is n/a as unit wont run it.
The built in lowrance and humminbird maps do not cover all lakes in any given area, launch on one that isnt in the map system no contour.

I was going to get autochart but my unit (998c) does not support it yet. I was told by HB that it would after an update but I think it only works with the Onix series right now.

Just read all the reviews from Cabelas and Bass Pro of the few that have it. Sounds like best to steer clear of it right now anyway....LOL.

I just ordered it because the HB update now supports it. Let you know how it goes!

Yeah I knew the update supported it but sounds like the software is very buggy. Hope it works out.
