We hit the Caney twice in recent weeks - one day was unbelievable and one day was a dud. I'm still yet to land a keeper-size but almost every time we at least have a chase from one if not a brief hook up.
The day it was a dud the generation stirred seemingly extra amounts of moss and right now there's a bunch of blooms falling on the water which clings to my line. I'm curious if anyone else just fishes through these conditions?
We caught fish on a combination of minnows, hard plastics and swimbaits.

During this time of year what I have found to work best is let the generators be running at least a couple of hours before you hit the water. This will normally flush a lot of it out. It seems that after a couple of hours of them running its not near as bad. If they have been running for days on end it not bad.

Yep, those clumps can get in the way if you have limited time on the water. We ran into that last weekend on 3 gens. Hit it last Saturday night 12-4 am and did OK with trout, Eyes, bass. Did you focus on the upper section on the good day you had?

We typically cover A LOT of water but the upper stretch was active that day, yes. I have no idea if my theory is worth anything but perhaps they haven't stocked any small trout lately i.e. bait because the shad was getting worked hard.

As George would say Yeeaaah. (nice shirt)
As for the trash on the water it gets really bad when the cottonwood's bloom as its like having cotton that looks like little buck-tail jigs that won't come off the line.
