Started the day at Pickwick just knowing was going to kill the fish. Fished all the spots I know and only caught one large mouth....a nice one for 2# test line. Talked to a couple of fishing buddies down there who were fishing for Gills with crickets in the cutback on the generator side.....usually this time of year a deadly technique. They hadn't had a bite in 2 hours of fishing. Talked to guys fishing over by the lock...nothing...but I tried anyway. Thought I might as well stop off at VFW Lake as I had to go right by it on way home. Glad I did. The air down there was full of the smells from different blooming trees...really sweet....water was really clear....just a nice peaceful place. Got into a bunch of 8 inch bull Gills....a few females also. Caught around 50 and came on home. Sure glad they were active as it really saved my day. These Gills were fired up...really good fighters. Might try Williamsport tomorrow. All fish caught on 2# test line using a Bison colored Trout Magnet on a 1/32 ounce jig head with a #8 hook.

Thanks....well been dealing some with my new vehicle but the weather has just got my spots messed up. Am supposed to go to Nickajack tomorrow with nephew. But Nick has not been doing the best either. I couldn't even catch a Gill down at Pickwick yesterday and neither could anyone else. The good news is maybe it will all be good for May. Was going to wet wade Normandy today but really would like for air temps to be in 70's for that.....LOL....and once again the wind is going to blow today. I still plan on calling you when and if I get into those crappie at Normandy. Trying to figure somewhere close to go today.

I hear you!, it has been tough, I fished Normandy all day Saturday upper end from fire lake ramp, caught several short Crappies and only one keeper that I turned loose at the end of the day, yesterday I took the yak out for first time this spring to Normandy, fished mid lake for about two and half hrs with similar results, it was windy and cool, fished minows and TM's from 12" down to 12' on blowdowns, water color is better mid lake just not as warm, something's up just not the same as other years! they are late to spawn IMHO, I hope you are right and fishing improves in May, it can only get better right?
just holler at me and we go fishing, good luck at the Nick with newphew tomorrow!!
