A quick report on this TN river impoundment in east TN. Spent Saturday thru Tuesday on Watts Bar in the Eagle Creek area with my family. Water temps 62 in the morning would warm to 64 on the sunny days, water clarity was 2-4 feet in most areas. Saturday we had 6 keeper largemouth largest being 5' 6oz, along with twice that many shorts and an occasional 13" crappie. Sunday was the best weather day but the fishing was slooooowww. A nice 3 pound small mouth at daylight and one 4.5 bass but not much else to go with them. Both Monday and Tuesday it rained all morning until about 11, actually had some snow on Tuesday. Not sure if it was the weather or the full moon but the smallmouth came out to play both afternoons. Caught a half dozen from 3 to 4.5 pounds both days, along with loads of smaller ones and plenty of largemouth both keeper and shorts. We used a variety of lures, best producers were jerkbait, spinner bait, and finesse worm on a shakey head. Fish were anywhere to 1' to 12' of water, really could not pattern the depth. Bonus to get to see plenty of ospreys and a few eagles. It's a beautiful lake that wasn't overly crowded which made for an enjoyable trip.
