Can I use a lipo battery like you would in a rc plane or car.
They small. I have a 11.1v 1500 mah lipo battery. I used it in my airsoft gun.
The gun when close to 2 day on a charge. The Elite 4x dsi voltage input is 10v to 17v. Current drain is 200ma at 13.5v.
I can get a 14.8 volt 1600mah battery that about 1"x 1 3/8" by 5"

Take a look at the Werker dry cell batteries at your local battery shop. They work great for this application.

For your unit's current load of 200 mA if you have a 1600 mAh battery you theoretically can get 8 hours of use out of a full charge (1600/200).

The 11.1v 1500mA may be to small. It could work, but not for long if it does. I recommend a 12V SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) 5Ah minimum. These batteries are fairly small only weighing a few less than 3lbs. I would run a 3A Fuse inline on the positive side of the power cable also.

The 14.8V 1600mA would work better, like Jimmy said theoretically you could get 8hr use out of a full charge, but YMMV

I use a sealed 12volt, 7ah battery in my yak with a Humminbird PiranaMax 175. I can get at least 3 full days use out of it before needing to recharge. Bought it at Batterys Plus.
