First post and report
I knew there would be a calm when the winds switched directions yesterday and sure enough it started laying down about noon and by 3pm it was just perfect.
Most of these fish came from 12-13 feet of water and right on the bottom. I stayed away from the crown over on Green Island and fished mostly in the NW reaches of the lower lake.
Water temp was 49 when I got there and crept up to 53 by the time the rain chased me off the lake. I fished with both straight minnow rigs and single 1/4 jigs with Bobby Garland Baby Shads in Mo Glo Electric Chicken. Both caught about the same amount of fish but the jigs seemed to produce better quality.
It was a strange bite. They were hitting the minnows very lightly and easily missed while the jigs where 3 eyes in the water kind of hits.
It was a great afternoon and I finally broke the winters curse.
