I fished with merv today and before I even went I saw SAMBOLIE in fate sander's store. We ended up seeing gboyce and fisher01 also. The first keeper crappie I caught on a bison trout magnet twitched with 2 pound line on. The rest were caught on black/ and chartreuse crappie magnets. I don't even think we caught one on another color. We had about 50 in the boat and 25 keepers. We also had about 6 big yellows too. In the past hour I caught 2 keeper hybrids on 6 pound test. One was 15.5 inches and the other was 16.75 inches. I had to circle the boat on both of them. I didn't realize how hard those things fight until now! Water was 53 when we launched and it was 55 by the end of the day. I will be bank fishing the same spot tomorrow, and I will bring waders to cast out further. Merv took the crappie to walker's for the fish fry.

Nice job today Isaac! Hybrids are a blast. If you ever want to go catch live bait up in stewarts creek and fish for some 10-15+ pound hybrids, I'd be happy to take you out. There is nothing quite like watching the rods slam down into the water and having to fight like crazy just to get the rods out of the rod holders to fight the fish. Fun times! Let me know how you like the taste of them...

I would love to go target hybrids with you! When is the best time to fish for them? I will let you know how it tastes. I don't think I would have kept anything much bigger than that.

I was out wading on JPP from 4:30-6:30 today. Ended up doing fairly well.

Caught 18 crappie, 7 were legal size, 14 small bluegills, 15 yellow stripe most were small, a few decent size, 1 small hybrid, and 10 white bass. One of the white bass measured 16 inches. Yes it was a white not a hybrid or striper. Today I kept the 7 crappie and the large white. Didn't take any pictures, just wanted to get them cleaned quickly.

All fish were caught on 6.5' light rod, number 10 reel, 4lb. test, 1/16 oz. black.chartreuse jig.

Well, now I need a new electric filet knife. My 20 year old American Angler MT3 wore out while cleaning today. Opened it up and found the two metal gears completely wore down. Over the years, that knife was a work horse, and now I've discovered they don't make them any more. It was hard going back to a hand knife to clean the last few fish.

Tomorrow with the warm weather, fishing should be good.

Right now through the end of summer is prime hybrid time on JPP. The bigger hybrids and stripers can be caught year-round but they are about to get really happy in the coming days/weeks as the water temp rises. In fact, you'll start to see a lot of guys wading out into the water from the banks catching them over the next several weeks in the very early mornings. The key is bait bait bait. Catching and keeping gizzard shad alive and healthy for your day of fishing is 75-85% of the battle. It's a blast and very rewarding! I'm by no means an expert but I'll send you a PM some time soon (i have 2 kids and work full time so my intentions are always better than my results..) and we'll go slay em!

Keep nailing the crappie man. I love to read your posts and see your pix!

One more thing... I know your family does the home-school thing. My wife is going to a really big home-school conference at Opryland Hotel next weekend. Will you and your family be there?

I didn't even know about the conference. I will ask my mom about it tomorrow.
