Prop question

I run a 24p Fury prop on a 19ft Triton with a 175 PROXS Merc. Wide open rpm's is 5800 and 6000 in cold air. I don't know the speed because I don't have a gps on it yet and the speedo is unhooked. When its topped out it starts chimming but I can steer through it.
My question is, should I leave it as is, raise the jackplate a little more, or go to a 26p prop?
I feel that I can get more out of her at top end but not sure of the safest way of doing it. I think the rev limiter is 6200rpm's. My mechanic hooked the computer up and I have 0 hours between 6000-6200 rpm's which isn't a bad thing but I want to get all I can out of it.

I would think you could run a 25 pitch prop on that rig, probably a Tempest Plus 25, depending on motor height. Where is the prop shaft in relation to the pad right now? What is your current water pressure at WOT? The rule of thumb is to keep raising the jackplate until you lose bow lift, lose water pressure or both. Then lower it an 1/8" and you should be in the sweet spot. You should be 15psi or better at WOT for safe operation. I would not spend much time over 6K rpm. Another option is to add some cup to the blades on your Fury. As for motor height, I would start at 3.25" propshaft below pad and make small adjustments from there.

Thanks for the info Buc. The water pressure is sitting at 13-15 at WOT. Seems like everything is where it should be. I was thinking I could get a little more out of it without risking damage. I'm afraid if I raise the motor anymore that I would risk losing water pressure.

Have you checked out the engine tests on the Merc website for the 175 Pro XS? I am definitely not an expert but didn't see much over 6000 RPM.

Based on your current water pressure I don't think you should go up more. I think you need to add cup to the Fury 24 or think about a 25 pitch alternative. I've got a 25 Tempest you can try but the Flo Torque hub kit I have is for a Johnson/Evinrude spline pattern.

Thanks for the input fellas! That's what I was looking to find out. It seems to be set up where it should be.
