Shot with my Canon PowerShot SX50HS, using a tripod (no remote shutter release) manual mode, aperture at f/5.6, ISO100, shutter speed at 1/250. That camera takes better pics than my Canon Rebel T1i (which I suspect it's my cheap telephoto lens, not the camera). I've been looking at this lens http://tinyurl.com/phjkr8o but man oh man, that is some serious money for someone whose livelihood doesn't depend on photography.

If you look real close ... Near the bottom of the moon on the left side ... A white spot ... I think I see Merv and Sambolie fighting over who's going to net the 38 pound Bass ... And the astonishment is they are in a one man Kayak ... :eek:

Well, fantastic for me LOL. You may remember my attempts a few months ago using the 75-300 Canon lens which turned out terrible and not even anywhere close to these. I bought this PowerShot SX50 as a replacement for my older fishing camera, which got water inside the lens, and so far, this camera has really impressed me.

At least someone is doing some catching, somewhere. I've been a wuss with this cold weather...grew up near Cleveland, Ohio (go Browns :rolleyes:) but 4 years in Florida followed by 4 years on Okinawa warmed me right up and after that I couldn't stand to be out in the cold anymore.

Since Merv can't catch a fish on planet earth I handed him the rod and reel when I caught the fish and let him reel it in.
He did snag a lot of moon rocks on his own.

Nomad - I grew up in Cleveland too - South Euclid, but have been here in BNA for 23 years. I do not miss shoveling that snow!!!

Not to keep posting my amateur photographs but I found this interesting.

Took these this morning at around 5 am...two cameras with the same exact settings, same subject, yet what a difference. 0290 was taken with my Canon PowerShot SX50 HS and 2017 was taken with my Canon Rebel T3i with a 75-300mm lens. This is one of those instances where you do get what you pay for (as in lens). I know the Rebel is very capable of taking great pics but is limited in this instance by the el cheapo lens. But, for a $350 camera, that PowerShot SX50 HS sure is an awesome camera.

First of all, those are well above amateur status! Second if all, WOW, that is incredible detail for a point and shoot $350 camera!!
