Personal Best crappie

I got to my spot at 5:00 and I stayed until 8:30. I caught this slab at 5:45 on a Bobby Garland Baby Shad in blue ice color. It was 14.5 inches. I have noticed I catch more fish on a crappie magnet but I caught this big one on a Baby Shad. I caught two nonkeepers on a killer klatt crappie magnet after the big one hit.

Awesome looking white crappie. Looks like she is carrying some eggs. That's the trill of crappie fishing, congrads. Maybe I can get you out on OH some day and show you how to shoot docks, you have come a long way since your first post on here.

Hotwielen65, I have seen people do that but I have never done that. I would be interested in learning that style of fishing.

Just got a new 6 footer for dock shooting. It also comes in handy for fishing tight on a bank and shooting under trees.

The shooting technique is definitely an advantage when fishing from a back with cover, setting the hook is a whole different deal. Its addicting once you get it working for you. I've watched guys work a dock tightlining and not catch a fish then come in behind them shooting under the lift or pontoons and picked up several fish.:D. Well try and hook in a month or so.

You're almost..almost... making me want to get my kayak out this weekend and only search for Crappie. I won't even bring bass gear because I know how I am. I won't find Crappie right away and then just get annoyed and bass fish the rest of the day. I have to commit to trying new species!!

Thanks guys. The TARP certificate is in the mail right now. I had a cheap scale but it weighed 1 and a half pounds on it.

Jimmy, as long as my wife does not get upset I am going to try and go Saturday. I have some Honey do list stuff to take care of but if I can get it done during the week I am golden. If my grandfather does not want to go you are welcome to tag along with me if you want to catch some crappie.

Thanks for the offer but I'm not sure I'll be able to go Saturday. I was thinking Sunday after church and fish until dark. That is, if the weather cooperates. There are some coves around the Smith Springs area I'd like to pull into and tryout.

I'm the exact same after church but my wife is leaving Sunday morning to go out of town for a few days so I'm going to spend Saturday with her and possibly fish Sunday.
