Sunny.
Wind 10mph out of SW.
2generators transitioned to 1 at noon.

Caught 12 rainbow, 2 brooks, 3 browns.

Half on trout magnet, half on cranks. Few big fish swiped at crank but never hooked up. Many small fish missed.

Bite was off and on furious. Caught four back to back then nothing for 30 mins. Repeat. If wind had laid down probably would have caught more.

Still some ice on the face of the dam.

An elderly man at the ramp stopped me as I was pulling out and said, "Catching anything? That polar vortex, that was something else. Polar vortex! Never heard of such a thing! Vortex! Have you ever? Have ya?!"
......" I caught 17."
Then he walked away mumbling "Polar vortex, I never...he,he."
I almost stopped him to tell him about ice on the dam but he shuffled over to a family sitting in lawn chairs on the ramp.
"Vortex!"

In the Caney Fork you're allowed only 5. 14-20" PLR for Rainbows and Brooks, only one of your five total can be one of these species over 20". Browns only above 24" and only one of your 5 can be a Brown.

Yea the areas where they only stock in the winter you can keep 7 any size. They want those taken out before the water warms up and they die. I've caught better size keepable trout (longer and fatter) below the dam drifting Kastmaster spoons. The really skinny ones don't taste as good to me. I miss that place. Good luck!
