The guide on the tip of my St. Croix Mojo dropshot rod came off and fell in the water a little while ago. I contacted St. Croix and they told me to send the rod, along with $50 since my two year warranty has expired. Now I know doesn't cost nearly that much to buy the part and repair it myself and besides after $50 I'd be half way to buying myself a new rod! They would not tell me the size of the rod tip guide and where I could obtain one. The tip didn't break, the guide simply fell off.
Anyone have any idea of what size I'd need (its a med-light fast action rod) and where I can obtain one? Its my favorite rod for finesse fishing! I saw some at BPS and Academy but they didn't look small enough, so I was afraid to buy it.

I have a tip top gauge but here is a chart to help you determine what you need...you have the inside diameter of the ring and then the inside of the tube. Just print chart out and lay your rod tip across it.

Alphahawk is a veritable warehouse of knowledge.
(That's why TK lets him stay on as a member, so we can pick his brains on ????like this!)

Last summer I was faced with the same situation. I took the tip piece to Bass Pro. They had a tip gauge/guide behind the fishing counter. I had to buy the three piece kit by Fuji to get the tip I needed.
This was a Trout Magnet 6 1/2 footer UL. The rod arrived with the tip broken. They sent me a new on in exchange for a photo of the broken rod.
Good folks.

It's not rocket science ... Usually you don't even need a tip gauge ... The Fuji Combo tips (Usually one will fit) and Fuji hot glue ... In 5 min's problem solved for under $15 ....
And Merv !!! Why did you let the cat out of the Bag about Randy the Alphahawk !! <'TK><
