ive not done alot in Old Hickory myself just yet but i plan on expanding my area's. Ive heard both good and so-so about old hickory depending on who you talk to and what ya wanna fish for. Seems to have some pretty good crappie fishing from what ive been told from other guys.

They are two very different lakes but fishing can be great on both. Current plays a much bigger role on Old Hickory than it does on Priest most of the year. Personally, when I first moved to Nashville, Old Hickory was a lot easier for me to "figure out" than Priest.

The fact that Percy has a good hybrid population is a draw for me otherwise I fish Old Hickory more due to it being between me and Percy.

Given a choice, I'd actually take the river that connects them....Cumberland.

Yeah.

I'd take OH dam down to around Hydes Ferry over OH or JPP given the choice.

Except for spring...then Travis will be found on JPP. He is growing addicted to stripey fishies now thanks to your's truly, lol.

I fish Priest some in the spring, but for the rest of the year, I think Old Hickory is much easier to fish unless you're good at deep water tactics.

You work too much to fish either. :D

Hope you can get out and stretch a line during the holiday break this week.

Agreed. Even in the dog days of summer, you can find good fish shallow and deep on OHL. Priest is a different story. It seems like your pattern needs to be a lot more specific on that lake in my experience. I'm mainly referring to bass, however. Crappie and striped fish aren't my forte.

I cant figure out OH, I suck on that lake. Priest on the other hand I am very familiar with.

Three words for figuring out Old Hickory: follow the shad.

I will have to remember that next time. The guys I fish with always wanted to drive to OH but they never really caught much either. I turned them into believers of JPP. I am going to fish the OH/JPP tournament series this coming year so I am going to have to figure OH out in a hurry. The only luck I have ever had is just beating the banks on old hickory.

I'm serious. From early summer on, there are massive schools of threadfin shad on Old Hickory, and the game fish follow them. If you can't find fish on Old Hickory, find some of the shad, and you can usually at least pick up a few.
