Doug, in the capacity of officially representing the TWRA, has already jumped Mr. Woody. Doug says, Kenny Elliott, the angler who died last week, died in an inlet of Johnson Creek on Cheatham Lake, well above the dam. There’s other huge parts of the story that Woody leaves out, in what seem to me to be in support of what the Corps wanted to do. Doug says that Woody will print a retraction tomorrow, and hopefully correct some facts.
What I would like for the Democrat’s readers to know is, with lightning speed, the Freedom to Fish Act was introduced in the Senate on May 16, unanimously passed, it passed by unanimous voice vote in the House on May 21, and was signed into law by the Prez on June 3rd. And – the Tennessee General Assemble passed Joint Resolution SJR 0114, condemning the Corp’s intended closures, with a unanimous vote in both houses. The Kentucky legislators did the same. Considering all that is dysfunctional in Congress today, the Corps’ intentions were so absolutely absurd, that it generated congressional unanimity like the attack on Pearl Harbor. (Actually, even that saw one dissenting vote.)
I gave Doug some ammo, and told him I’d stay quiet and let the TWRA speak to the corrections. But I think somebody should get deep into Mr. Woody’s stuff, and from a private citizens point of view, tell him he’s WAY off in supporting the Corp’s safety notion. Just ask any senator or congressman from Tennessee or Kentucky.
