Just in case you need some motivation. Here's a clip from last year by a guide in Tahoe:

Gastons reports the big browns are moving up the White. Hope they are still there come November 14th...LOL.

alpha, when your throwing cranks for browns what # test do you use and do you leave the motor idleing as you drift or does that spook the fish? thanks as always.

On the Caney I use 4# and 6# test. We go in browntrout's boat and he does idle......I don't think it affects the fish at all. I have had a brown follow right to the boat during idle and I did a figure 8 trying to get him to hit...it wasn't a huge fish....and I just pulled the lure out of the water and lay the rod across my lap and he jumped out of the water and grabbed it. The guides on the White leave their boats in idle also and it had no affect on our fishing.

Always leave your motor idling when they are running the generators. You never know when you could get into trouble and that 1 or 2 seconds that it would take to start the motor could be huge. Also remember that the more water they are running the bigger line you can use.

I may try to slip up there sometime this weekend. With the rain coming in do you think it will affect the generation forecast? I see where they are running at 8-10 am. We camped at the Obey this past weekend and I had decent browns chasing my perch/rainbow cranks but only a few takers.

It all depends on how much rain falls there I guess. My initial feeling (hope) is it stays same.

Did you float the Obey? There are some good ones in that river brown, brook and bows.

We just walked the bank. Each morning I took my 3 kids to the hatchery creek for bit . Then we would walk to the overflow parking lot and fish upstream yo the campground ramp. At the creek gold TM's were the ticket and cranks in the river. I tried last Friday night with topwater but it was 27 degrees and my rod kept icing up.
