Today, my goal was to fish for bass for about an hour, and then switch to fishing the Crappie Magnet for panfish. After that cold front and the rain, and the bluebird skies we were supposed to have today I figured it would be easy to stop fishing for bass after an hour since they wouldn’t be biting anyway. Well, as usual, I was wrong because I must have caught around 15 bass just in the first hour but only one was of decent size; the rest were all smaller. I followed the plan though, and broke out the ultralight, with a 3/16 oz. Crappie Magnet jighead and fished that for the rest of the day. And what a beautiful day it was, again. Fall is definitely here.
In the pics; a bass, a catfish and one of the bluegill. The bass was caught on a Senko, the catfish and bluegill on the white/chartreuse Crappie Magnet. I caught a ton of bluegill; the one in the pic was the average size I was catching so I still haven’t figured out where the slabs are hiding but they sure were slamming that Crappie Magnet…I was fishing it under a bobber and slowly twitching it; I know most of you don't use a bobber and slowly drag it across the bottom but where I was fishing, there were too many rocks and I kept getting snagged and losing my lure so a bobber it was. But, I also had a lot of fish hit the lure and take the bobber under and then they let the lure go because I never got a chance to set the hook. That one, I need to work on LOL.
