I think my 2 bank on board charger is done. The portable home battery charger that I have is pretty old itself.
Would I be better off buying a 3 bank for my 2 trolling motor batteries plus outboard battery OR look into buying a good standard battery charger that is not dedicated to the boat?
Thanks.

Travis, my boat had a 3 bank charger when I bought it, but only 2 of the banks worked. I used an old portable charger to charge the 3rd one for 2 years. Then the other 2 banks went out. I recently bought a new 3 bank charger that was on sale at Bass Pro. Man, it is so nice to just plug it in and let it charge. I'm still keeping the portable charger in case I need it for something else. So for me, it was better to get the 3 bank. Guess I'm out of luck, though, if my old portable one goes out and I need it!

I like the 3 bank. I have a 36 volt Trolling motor so 3 batteries for that plus the Cranking battery. Being able to plug up and charge multiple batteries with one device is nice. I do keep two portable chargers with me.

In my opinion, on board is the only way to go, I have had 2, 3 and now a 4 bank charger as my needs have changed. If you old one is a promariner you can go online and submit a repair request and then print out the RMA# and ship back to them and they will ship you a refurbished one at no charge.
