A friend from Chattanooga wanted to slime his new (to him) kayak this weekend, so my oldest and I left from Murfreesboro and met him at Woods. We launched at the Franklin County Park ramp.

It was new water for us, but we had great weather and caught a few fish all on Crappie Magnets in Bison and Killer Klatt colors including various panfish, a baby smallmouth at 9" and two spots that my son got at about 12" each.

No pleasure boaters and friendly locals at the ramp helped make it a nice day. TWRA was there checking around and some guys were sinking a trailer of brush somewhere near the big island.

Not a bad spot for a 1 hour drive from Rutherford county, but I definitely need to learn more about how to fish it.

Pretty fish. If you figure it out let me know.....LOL. I have fished it and not done well. It does not have a good population of big Gills. It has quite a few white bass.....maybe too many. I have seen some really nice Spots paddling around the lake at the ramp you put in at. I understand there are really nice crappie there.

those folks with the brush was some of our duck hunting crew out there to brush up some duck blinds, this little lake has proven hard to catch some nice keeper Crappies, there are a lot of them but they all are at 9 inches, a lot of stripe there too and no fishermen tragets those, this is a somewhat very shallow lake, the only deep spots are near the dam and this place is closed to all kinds of activity on Dec 1st to allow waterfolw to rest, there are a lot of brush piles (some big) if you have a sonar and find them you can have a fish on every cast almost, a lot of fun to take a kid there!!

Thanks for the tips TS. I'm starting to look at electronics, and I'll probably be back at Woods, so that's good info to know.
