I heard some weird croaking like a frog but high pitch more like a squealing not like a frog. I looked down and this frog was about half ingested and within a few minutes totally gone.

Does anyone recognize this critter? http://i426.photobucket.com/albums/pp342/TnTomWoodbury/snake%20eating%20fron/snake_zps1bcff0a4.jpg

Looks like a Northen water snake. The Brown water snake has similiar hour glass markings like a Copperhead...both type water snakes are common in Tn and harmless....except to frogs!

I will say northern as well. I have spooked one with a bluegill half hanging out of his mouth. He looked like a cobra!

I was watching a smaller one eyeball some minnows in a tiny pool of water and I blinked my eye and the empty mouth was then full of minnow. Faster than magic trick.

They are pretty cool to watch...here's one I took a photo of in Old Hickory last summer.

No doubt it is a northern water snake. Southerners always fry frogs before eating them.;)
