Hey guys, I guess I'm somewhat new to bass fishing a little bit. I need some advice. What lures/colors do best on percy priest in this type of weather? What lures would you recommend for using at night? I know some things about it but not a lot.
Any advice will be appreciated!
Thanks,
Jason

To me purple works best on priest. Junebug or something similar when it comes to worms or jigs. At night I throw a straight black worm or black/blue. I prefer a 10" worm over anything smaller. The last couple of times I have been out I have caught fish anywhere from 12' deep to 1'. Usually this time of year if it's not early or late they will be deeper.

I kind of lean the same way at night unless I am trolling.
My favorite night bait is a Zoom Ole Monster in Plum. Second it's a swim jig in dark color and/or big single bladed dark spinnerbait like a Midnight Special.

I have 3 to 4 rods ill be fishing with so I'm trying to figure out what lure to put on each one. Great info guys I haven't really fished with worms before so I have to try that out. What about crank baits? Do they do well out there at night or in the morning/evening? If so which type of crank bait? Also whats the best tactic when fishing with a worm? How should I retrieve it?

I prefer to drag my worm in short slow sweeps of the rod then soft hop if it hits something like a rock or stick. To each their own on that though as I am sure every does it a bit differently. But two of the biggest mistakes most make when not catching fish on worms (in my opinion) are: moving it too fast and moving it too much meaning distance. It doesn't take much of a raise in the rod tip to move a bait a long ways on the retrieve. Most crayfish, snakes, eels, lampreys or whatever else they think it is won't move feet at a time.
You can catch fish on cranks a night I am just partial to keeping hooks out of my head when fishing with someone. Solo I will throw one but its not my first choice. It seems that crayfish patterns worked more for me at night than baitfish but I'd assume fish eat both during that time.

Last few trips on Priest for me it has been really hard to put down my drop shot rod. I've been fishing it mainly vertically and catching suspended fish anywhere from 15-20ft deep with my boat sitting in 15-40ft of water. I seem to do the best on green pumpkin with a chartreuse tail or purple.
Early morning and late evening, I've caught some really nice fish on a buzzbait. I've also caught a few really nice smallmouth cranking the humps in the middle of the lake.
Good luck

When cranking I throw a 6XD in a shad color or chartreuse, depending on water color. I like to throw a shaky head jig. Falcon K shaky is my favorite followed my the Yum pumkin ed. When I hit the water I have a shaky head, Carolina Rig, Crankbait and either a buzzbait or Spook on. One of my favorite worms for the shaky is the Big bite Sugar cane worm in june bug. I like the big 10" or 12" power bait for the Carolina rig. I have been fishing the D bomb either Texas rigged or on a shaky head it works either way. I tend to work my worm with a twitching motion to try and get more action out of it. When I hit structure I make sure to shake it then, I do fish it pretty slow. I like the Booyah buzzbait with a clacker in a chartreuse white combo. Academy has them.

Roughly 75% of the time I throw a buzzbait, it's 1/4oz in black with a black blade.
