Going to be a hot one today so I'm hitting the lake early, about dawn.
Got a friend from Fishingtn.com (fishing forum here in middle Tennessee) that has a new graph like mine, Humminbird 597 ci hd di and isn't familiar with it. I'll take him out and show him some of the finer points of it......and hopefully catch a few fish too.

WE DONE GOOD!
Didn't even get to set a line out when the fish started blowing up all around us. Probably a five acre area where the fish were "in the jumps".
Had a blast for about 30-45 minutes (lost track of time) while we had doubles, lost fish get another on before you could reel back in.
Todrut, my fishing partner for the day, had the hot stick and was wearing them out. Caught a lot of hybrids, mostly 1-2 pounds, no big ones, but on a light action rod and 4# test line, a lot of fun.
After that action died down, we went trolling for crappie. That was really slow. We caught more largemouth bass, yellow bass, and catfish than we did crappie.
No keeper bass, no yellows big enough to filet, and didn't want the cats.
Caught a few more hybrids on the cranks and a coupla smaller whites. Fun day and we called it quits at 10 AM.

Of course you'd get into hybrids when I'm not there.

Glad you all got into some fish. I know that kind of action is a lot of fun. Was nice of you to take him out. As far as my day for fish it was a bust....but will try again tomorrow.

WOW! Fun day with Merv, as he said above. I've never seen fish in jumps, fun to see and even more fun to catch some. I was using a crappie magnet black/chartruese.
THANK YOU Again Merv! I truly appreciate the fun and the knowledge shared with me today...

Todd, glad we got into those hybrids cause other than that, it was a slow morning. It's rare to see the jumps for that long in such a large area, but it certainly was fun while it lasted.
Todd was using a$12.00 WalMart rod while I was using a $150.00 custom rod and he was outfishing me at least 5:1 so that proves it ain't the equipment, it's the man using the equipment and today was Todd's day. He was whoopin up on them.
It was great fishing with you Todd. Now....you owe me a good walleye trip on the Caney!

Well...like my buddy back in 1970....Charlie Swoops....told a guy he was playing pool with, after the guy complained his cue was not straight Charlie said "The cue ain't got nothing to do with it"...then Charlie picked up a broom handle...ran the table with it....collected his 20 bucks and off we went to the Tastee freeze.....LOL.

Hey Merv.....could you not follow those fish in the boat or did they just disappear?

Alpha, we did follow the fish and I think it extended our "catch". And when they stopped the surface activity, we still caught them on our trolled crankbaits.
We had a couple of doubles there. Good fun!
