Help planning for weekend please

I get off work Friday at 12 and thought I'd head over to jpp....is that's bad idea haha? Pleasure boaters?
Saturday and Sunday at dale hollow. Wanted to try trolling for trout for the first time...I don't have a clue about what depth is effective. Was thinking about using three way rig or in line weights to get lures down. I have plenty of swimbaits and some 6" flatfish lures to use. Maybe some deep diving cranks as well might be worth a try. Any and all advice on technique would be appreciated. Thanks

The pleasure boaters (especially wakeboarders) can be very arrogant and annoying to us kayakers. They are one of the reasons I wake up at 3am on Saturdays to fish JPP and am done by 10am. The other reasons are beating the heat and better fishing :D

Seriously though, the wakeboarders will blow right past you with no consideration of you in the kayak trying to finesse fish for bass. There is so much water they can wakeboard on but they have go to back and forth in the area you'd like to fish.

Can't help you on Dale Hollow as I've never fished it but I certainly want to try it out for some of those giant rainbow trout that lurk in there.

Can't help with the rainbow trolling, but if you're headed to dale regardless, I would get with fishfindergeneral. Trolling is his forte and has answered some of my questions in the past. I have a location you can try, but I think it's an area he uses and I don't want to post it in the public forum and step on his toes, so to speak. Pm him and tell him your ideas and he should be able to help get you going in the right direction. If all else fails, pm me before you go and I'll tell you where I would fish.

I have some alternatives for other species if you want some back-up options. Let me know what else you'd wanna target and I'll help if I can.

Try trolling 25 ft to start with, at least 100 ft behind the boat.

Mid sized (4 inch) spoons work good for the trout and walleye.

Don't know a thing about deep water trolling....but have fished there quite a bit. I would hit the water at dusk and throw jigs at deep banks.....purple or black.....or you can find a bluff and tie onto the bluff with a rope and move out into the channel and anchor in 100 plus feet of water. Put out lights and wait for the "Scout Trout" to show up and catch trout under the lights all night.

Got skunked big time! I tried everything in my arsenal at every depth and never had so much as a nibble haha. I'm not sore about it though because I had a nice weekend on the water with my dad. We talked about it and decided taking a guided trip might be our next move when we make the trip up there. Our best chance was early morning or night but we can't lose that much sleep due to responsibilities that require alertness during the following week. Probably will try again when it gets cold. I still am greatful for all of the advice given.

TK All the lakers died about 1990. We've got bows and browns. Come November you can target Giant walleye, largemouth, smallies and spots all while trolling for bows or switch gears and hunt muskies. You got to love the fall..

He is the one on here that fishes that lake the most.

And anyone who has fished Dale Hollow will tell you it can be a very tough lake to CATCH fish on. I've heard of lots of skunks on Dale Hollow.

Do the trout naturally reproduce in DHL?

Maybe a little but it's a put and take fishery for the most part. 70000 bows and 15000 browns were stocked this year. We catch them up to over 12 lbs.

Really? Never heard that before...to each his own I guess. I like catching anything with some size to it, even carp. I love the fight. There is something rewarding about targeting a specific species and then landing a large specimen of that said species.
