Went to Woods this afternoon and caught a limit of keeper fish. Caught fish trolling 300 Bandits (red and brown) as well as tight lining. The fish seem to be getting bigger.

Talked to a guy that was getting shad for Tim's Ford. Said he had been catching big Rockfish by the island and dam area. He said there was no oxygen below 17 feet in most of the lake but that there was oxygen at 50 feet in that part of the lake and that was where the big Rockfish were being caught. Several years ago, something like this happened down by the dam. Currents created a big column of oxygenated water that held a lot of fish. I am not going to be able to check this out for a couple of weeks because of business commitments, maybe someone on the board can check it out and report back.

Good deal......thought there would be good fishing reports from today. The weather just seemed right.

Aero did you put in at the Franklin County Boat Ramp around 1? I was there weighing in with the crappie club.

I caught between 45-50 crappie yesterday, but they were all 9 7/8"!!!!!

The whites were long but paper thin.

The blacks and black nosed were fat and thick, but short.

Ended up with 8 keepers.

They were hammering minnows all morning.

JandS,

I put in at Morris Ferry but I saw your group at about that time. I passed through the shallow cut next to the Franklin County Boat ramp in a white 22 foot Triton Center Console. I am finding a lot of fish and also catching enough keepers for the limit. There appears to be a thermocline at 20 feet in Woods. You are more likely to catch keepers trolling than with minnows, however, I am catching a slab or two each trip out on minnow-tipped Crappie Magnet Popeyes jigs. They are also biting TMs. Each trip out is producing new places.

In that case....NICE BOAT!!! Several of the guys drooled when you rolled by.

As I'm new to fishing, I still don't have the whole trolling cranks down pat. Maybe I can meet up with you sometime and you can give me some pointers!
