We caught over 20 rockfish this morning, most were 8 and up with the biggest was my 16 pounder and the best part was I got to watch it blow up on a super spook.

Nice catch! Were you above or below dam? Was there yesterday and wasn't much happening below dam. But things can change quick there. Any white bass in with them?

We were below, they completely stopped biting after 7:30 and when I mean stopped I mean stopped, we never had another bite. Around 9 we did see a few whites busting but really didn't try for them

Thanks for the reply. I know all too well when you say they "stopped". Maybe I will try this week for some whites below the dam again.

20 rockfish! That would be a GREAT morning!
I doubt I'll ever go to Pickwick, (three hour drive for me) but maybe it is working below all dams in the Cumberland system. Were you fishing the boils below the generators or were the gates flowing and the fish were there?

Well it would be worth a three hour drive! I have to drive nine to get there and I try to make it down there a couple times a year.
I LOVE PICKWICK!!!
And I know when you say they stopped they just are not there anymore!!
20 stripes just makes me smile!!! great job!

You can hit it down there when they are in there all day....and can catch maybe a 100 a day if you so want. You never know how long they will stay. I have seen them hang around for weeks at a time and you can get them all day long. Then I have seen them where they get in an early morning and late afternoon bite. That can go on for a couple of hours or last 20 minutes and they are gone. I have spent many a day down there waiting for the sun to start to drop and you have 30 minutes of absolute mayhem...then it is done. My years of fishing down there has shown from now until maybe the end of late fall can be the time to wear them out there....and then it gets to be total mayhem again in the early spring......although your biggest fish down there might very well be caught in December. But for those thinking it is the same as striper fishing on the Cumberland River system it is not......those huge trophies that you have seen pics posted on here....some in just the past couple of months....are very rare down there...if at all. But if you want numbers of fish from 8 to 14 pounds it is the place to go. There are also times that the place will be full of 12 inch stripers and if there are bigger ones around they don't have time to get to the bait as the place is so full of those size fish....and that is a ball on UL. Have been aiming to ask TK if that is the size they are stocked or do they stock smaller fish. Can't wait to hit it again in mid-week....thanks to chaseasl for the great report.

Yea, we were fishing in the boils and Alphahawk is dead on, we have seen some of those high number days, but a 20 pounder is a rare fish, my friend and I have been fishing up there our whole lives and he has one 22 pounder to his credit and my biggest is 17.

Great Morning. That is what they do below Cheatam also. Topwater bite usually lasts an hour.
