Has anyone tried this app for your phone or tablet? I don't have a gps fish finder so I thought about using this app. Wondering what all tn lakes and river portions it contains. Thanks in advance for any help.

I've had this app for my iPhone for a while. I probably should use it more than I do. But I mainly fish shallow water, creeks, rivers below dams. As far as larger rivers, Cumberland, and the TN yes it has detailed maps. You just highlight what area of the state or country you want and it takes a few minutes to download. Here is a screenshot from my phone.

I use it for Old Hickory, but mostly at the house. Problem is, iPhone is nearly impossible to see with Polarized glass on, and it's hard to drive and use both hands to zoom in map & such. Definitely wouldn't replace a decent humminbird unit, but not bad for planning a trip from the couch.

This app is good if you do not have a gps or if you want to research a lake from your couch. There are also some community marks that identify structure, or places nice fish have been caught. All of the lakes in middle TN that I fish are on the app. You can also mark waypoints if you are out with your buddy and he puts you on fish. Hope this helps.

So there's a Navionics app that's 10 bucks for Marine & Lakes USA and then there's the HD version of it for 50 bucks. Is it really worth that much more? I'm getting a depthfinder really soon for the yak but the GPS functionality and marking waypoints sure would be helpful.

I have the iPad, iPhone, and Android versions and they work fine. I use them for trolling sometimes because they have more detail than the maps on my HDS-8. The screens are very difficult to see in daylight and you will need to keep them plugged into power because of the GPS draw.
Maybe I just need better maps on my depth finder.

I downloaded it and have been looking at a map of Priest, very neat stuff!! Even found some "community" waypoints marked. Can't wait to use it next time I'm on the water.

I have it on my droid- it's great for looking at the detail when you are inside or not on the water. It shows a road bed and bridge pylons that my Garmin on boat doesn't.

I use it on my Smartphone, it's not a replacement for a fishfinder that's for sure, but a great scouting tool.
