Trout Fishing Today? Generation Schedules

Hey Guys,

My dad is in Nashville from out of town and he's dying to do some fly fishing.

Looking at the Center Hill Schedule, it looks like they've got two generators going on ALL day - I assume Happy Hollow would be 100% unsafe to wade, correct?

Looking at some of the dam schedules, so of them are only operating sluice gates - does this mean I can wade?

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. Feel free to PM if it makes you more comfortable.

All the rivers will be blown out today from all of the rain. Centerhill will start the gens at 9. It is 8:30 now so not worth his time even if he was to try to hit Happy or Bettys. With all of the rain I would encourage him to take a leisurely trip to Bass Pro and enjoy the fish tank and buy up some new gear.

If he is in town for the week, I'd just hit some creeks for smallies once the water dies a bit or you can go up on post at Ft Campbell. There are stocked trout creeks that you can pay a base pass to fish. That could be another option if trout is a have to or check out the Obey at Dale Hollow but the lake is almost higher than the spillway crest. It's bound to turn loose some water soon. If they wait on the other lakes to release first then you'll have wading windows there for a maybe the week.

Flintville Hatchery Releases Surplus Trout Into Elk River, Fort Campbell Streams


Just in time for some Independence holiday fishing fun, the TWRA’s Flintville Hatchery has released thousands of rainbow trout into the Elk River in southern Middle Tennessee, and also in several smaller bodies of water on the Tennessee/Kentucky state line within Fort Campbell Military Base.
“We had a surplus of rainbow trout after we did all of our spring stocking in Middle Tennessee and so we sent a bunch of fish to the Elk River and also to streams that we have been stocking for many years at Fort Campbell,” said Todd St John of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
The Elk River is a popular cold-water tailrace below Tims Ford Reservoir, while Fort Campbell has streams (and one pond) cold enough to support put and take releases of rainbow trout during he summer.
“We hope everyone takes advantage of these stockings and have a good time,” said St. John. “We had an excellent year at Flintville Hatchery in Lincoln County.”
There is no size limit on rainbow trout in the Elk River or in the Fort Campbell waters, but there is a seven-fish-a-day creel limit.

I guess ya'll have been getting a lot of rain in Middle Tennessee.
After seeing every one on saturday we returned to Moore and no rain here.
Wish I could find some trout here but none in Oklahoma.

Looks like a lot of pumping tomorrow on the Caney. I originally planned to fish the pond area late afternoon until dark whether they were generating or not but with all this rain and possible thunderstorms, the trip out there may not be worth it. I'll have to hold off until next weekend.

Hey Ed....was wondering if you made it back out there. White Bass are pretty abundant in Oklahoma. Maybe someone there can give you a location. Thanks for the help you give to storm victims.

Just noticed that the schedule shows no generation all day, as of now. They must be trying to hold water out of the Cumberland. The river will still be muddy I would think at least a mile or so down stream because of all the run-off..
