Did not get a chance to go to the Caney as planned but I headed out to the JPP tailwater just to enjoy the weather.
On Friday the wife and I caught several Crappie in the 8"-10" range but nothing of real size. We also caught 10 or so blue gills and other panfish with the largest pictured below. I also caught a 3-4lb drum wet legging up by the dam but was not able to get a picture because we did not have the camera on us.
On Saturday I went back after doing yard work and had a slow but productive day. Again caught several Crappie in the 8"-10" range and some white bass. I also caught, to my surprise, a 14" or so rainbow right up next to the dam. It put up a good fight on my new SLS rod and 2lb SOS line but I was able to get him in and an older gentleman down from me stated this maybe the latest he has ever seen a trout pulled from here. We attempted to measure it but it broke off and went back in the drink before we could get an accurate measurement and picture.
On a side note I have learned that I need to invest in a good small net for bank/wading fishing. I just purchased the SLS rod and Sedona reel from trout magnet on their 4th of July sale and I love it. However I do get more hook ups but as I get them in to the bank or near me and attempt to pull them from the water they are throwing the lure more than I think they have with my other lightweight set up.
Attached are a couple pictures of the Crappie and Pansfish we caught this weekend.
