Idiots. The American Fisheries Society doesn't vet scientific names, publication of the name in a peer-reviewed journal that meets the standards established by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature does. If this name makes it into print before the description comes out, then they'll have to select a different name than haiaka...
On a similar note, the description of four new bass split out of Micropterus coosae came out a couple weeks back...
