As of yesterday afternoon they have placed 1 red buoy at the dam. Its about 10ft from the bank. I assume they will place the remainder of them today... this is a sad day. I am going to call Lamar's office first thing this morning, I urge everyone else to do the same.

Who is turning them back and how ? Only the coast guard can enforce the traffic or the TWRA (And it won't be them) ... If it is just the COE ignore them ! <'TK><

I wasnt there, my buddy said they came out on the dam and told them to leave, I just heard they were letting logs through, that may be why they ran them off, but there is a single round buoy on the turbine side almost even with rest rooms.

They may be testing the buoy to see how it does when they let logs thru, there is some debris hung on it already.

They must be putting it in and out of its been there 3 weeks, I fished 3 days last week and it wasn't there. And it's not a channel marker because is on the left side going up to the dam

No matter ... As a USCG Captain .. and nav regs ... The COE is sending wrong messages ... Red Buoys are the Starboard side traveling upstream ... If the COE is putting any kind of Red Buoy on the port side which should be Green ... They are creating a Navigational Disaster .. ...

The Barriers should be Orange ... It appears we have the blind leading the blind here ...

Since the County and TWRA will not enforce the COE by the over taking of our Federal Gov (Thank Goodness) ... Unless you see a USCG Vessel enforcing this illegal action ... Ignore the COE ... They may bully you but they have no jurisdiction !!! <'TK><

Just a word of caution here. It might not be prudent to ignore COE officials, even though TK is technically correct that they probably don't have enforcement authority without Coast Guard involvement.

At least one or two of the accidents cited by the Corps occurred when anglers ignored Corps warnings to leave a hazardous area. I don't want to help the Corps make its case by giving them the argument that "we have to barricade the area because fishermen won't listen to our warnings."

Just playing devils advocate here. We want to make sure we approach this issue cautiously because the Corps will use any argument they can to get these barricades in place.

Yea its a round red bouy with a box type thing behind it if its gonna be the barrior they are cuttin out a lot of river its way past lock wall

Normally I'd be conservative, and recognize perceived authority. But a USACE employee or even an officer, has absolutely zero authority on our river. Aside from a sworn peace officer recognized by the State, if anyone gave me "orders" to stay out of any part of the river, I'd tell them to pinch one off in their hat, and pull it down over their ears. Being "ordered" out by Corps personnel, may actually be a good test.
