In the fight against the Corps' planned seizure of your dam tail-waters, your legislators have been supportive beyond imagination. Few other parts of the country could muster such bipartisan support. Our Governor on the other hand, has been conspicuously quiet. He has made one public comment about his concerns for the Corps' intent, but has yet to turn up the volume of dissent and get into rhythm with his constituents. You can help change that. I'm going to post separately, a letter, which is a collaboration of myself, T.K. Walker, and Doug Markham. On it you will find the Governor's mailing address. Because of the numbers of staff members, Attorney General and Commissioners that were copied, I send our letter via snail mail. But if you want to send Bill Haslam an email, click on the site shown below.
http://www.tn.gov/governor/contact.shtml (http://www.tn.gov/governor/contact.shtml)
In the gray box on the left side of the page, you will find, "Office of Governor Bill Haslam". Click on to his email connection at the bottom left, and you're on your way.
If you read our letter to Governor Haslam, you'll see that we are pressing for our State authorities to fulfill their responsibilities to the people of Tennessee, and protect our river from the arbitrary, autonomous, overreaching authority of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Hundreds of years of Public Trust Doctrine, Supreme Court Decisions, and volumes of case law support our resistance. Yet our Governor remains quiet, and our Attorney General, completely silent. Join us in asking the Governor to flex his executive muscles, and send the Attorney General a message about the responsibilities of the State holding our rivers as a public trust. They owe it to the people of Tennessee to protect our public assets from unlawful seizure.
