Looks like everyone has had a gread day of fishing so far, so I thought I'd share mine!
The wife headed out of town for the day so I decided to hit the lake this morning. I was really tempted to go for bass with the warmer weather, but I was itching for some fillets for the frying pan. So I bought some minnows and headed for the Jefferson Springs ramp. This was my first time trying for crappie this time of the year and I was surprised they were quite easy to find, at least today. At first I found them in 12 feet of water near the channel edge. I caught 5 and than the bite quit. So I moved over to a nearby stake bed in 5 feet of water. I never moved again for the rest of the day. I fished until 1:30 and I caught 23 crappies, all 10-11 inches, with a few 11 inchers. I kept 10 for the pan. The wife will be happy! Fun day to be had.
