My wife returns tomorrow, so I will be spending more time with her and not fishing every night after work. So since she gets home tomorrow, I went to give it a shot again tonight. I got to the area I have been wading and all the water was like chocolate milk. I have never done good in situations like this. But i said what the heck, and went for it. I walked along the shore, and the wind was pounding straight in where i was fishing. There were a few small points where the wind would blow the silt and mud across the point and it would create little eddies of clean water. There was a distinct silt line. I have done well on silt lines in rivers up in MN, so i started casting these lines. I started with a fluke, nothing. So like always, i tossed the ol' TM out there. first cast, BOOM, 14" bass. About 20 minutes later I got a 16 1/4 incher. Nothing else in that spot, so i walked until I found another silt line, caught a small one there, about 11-12". Then I found a little pod of bluegill, caught one every cast until I realized they were all 4-5 inchers. Then right at dark, I finally found some bait schools in the muddy water and I caught 7 yellow bass until it was dark and I had to leave. But these were the 7 largest yellows I have ever caught! They were close to a pound or bigger! They are fighters on the 2 lb test!
I just want to thank Mr. Alphahawk for introducing me to the TM and super ultra lite fishing! These past 4 evenings I have fished percy from the bank. I tossed flukes, jerkbaits, swimbaits, and a few other bass baits. I even tossed a crappie magnet on a 1/32 oz jig for a while. All those baits produced one largemouth. As soon as i put a TM on with no weight or float and just let it twitch in the strike zone, it gets hammered! I have caught over 100 fish in the last 4 days and all but one were on the TM(besides the Tims Ford trip). Big crappie, nice bass, nice hybrid, whites, yellows and bluegull. The water temp must be just warm enough to bring in the fish, but they are still not very aggressive and need a small presentation! If it was a year ago, i would have just said that the fish weren't shallow yet and left with a skunk.
I was and still am a huge fan of Bison color TM, but I tried that on Saturday night and it didn't work, Purple Redemption was the ticket and has quickly become one of my faves!!
Its crazy in the last 6 months, the trout mag on 2 lb test has produced good sized smallies, white bass, yellow bass, largemouth, spots, bluegill, shellcracker, all 3 species of trout, hybrids, crappie, and drum. I love it!
Sorry for the rambling and thanks for reading!
