Normandy dam

The wife and I went down below normandy dam to catch bait today. They have dropped flow pretty low , only about 70 cfs and its algaed up pretty bad. There appears to be plenty of stockers if anybodys interested. We caught 14 in about two hours on power eggs ( red n chartruse).

I've never fished below Normandy. Would it be difficult or appropriate to launch a 20 foot aluminum boat there?

You don't want to put that size boat below Normandy.....I don't even think you could launch one that size there. You might could only float for 100 feet or so and be grounded with a 70CFS of water. It is really only for kayaks...canoe....very small boats.

I've never fished below Normandy. Would it be difficult or appropriate to launch a 20 foot aluminum boat there? Need to go about 200 or so river miles downstream, to where the Duck starts to be impounded by KY Lake.

That boat would certainly be too big but there is some good fishing to be had there. I have been all the way to Lewisburg more than once. There are a couple of ponds and dams along the way. Some of the best black perch and smallie fishing for me was from Henry Horton State Park to Lewisburg water works . Buzz baits and mepps squirrel tails were my main baits. Takes a small watercraft though. Regards

My friend took me on the duck river in columbia. He has a 23ft bumblebee with a 225hp evinrude. He grew up fishing that stretch for smallies. He took me down that narrow shallow stretch of river going 60mph! I thought that was my last day on earth! Scared me to death! I had to check my britches when he finally stopped......

I stopped by there last week with my daughter to wet a line and shake the winter blues for a little bit, good bunch of people fishing that day, I was surprised as to how bad the algae is already, i would expect to see it like this by mid April but not this early, sadly Bedford lake was the same!! that was always been a challenge for to me to overcome, any idea from any experienced fishermen how to fish a body of water when this conditions ocurr??

Bedford Lake was full of algae? Thats not a good sign for the time of year.

Not really full Alpha but IMHO it had a considerably higher than normal algae growth, by the way by any chance were you in the Shelbyville Lowes this morning?? saw a gentleman that looked like you with a brace on the left knee and walking with a "Moses" cane I thought that may be you!

I enjoy fishing Bedford in early spring...after catching several dozen stockers below Normandy. I call it the "Two For" trip....trout and then some decent Gills. Nope wasn't me in Shelbyville. I can barely make it around Columbia...but am hoping in two weeks can get out. I sure need to.

Bedford is a fun lake, I fished it several times last Spring and did well from the bank. Maybe I'll see you this spring, I definitely plan to make a trip there.

Well I hope you can get out soon, holler at me one of these days when you fish around here I would like to pick your brain to fish Bedford Lake and Normandy and just general fishing questions and the famous TM :), I will try not to be anoyying!!, just ask Roy!!

well now that mention I do recognize the pier, this lake was some awsome LM bass, very finick though at least for a rookie like me!!, being such a small lake at 47 acres and fishe heavily those fish recognize every brand and model of lure there is, but during April when they are on the bed you can see some really nice ones there and the 4 and 5 inch lizards on muted colors with a chartreuse tail will do the trick!!
